SMS Alerts Policy

Last updated: May 19, 2026

Overview

Macroeconomic State Forecast ("MSF") offers an optional SMS alert feature that notifies registered users when the macroeconomic regime model detects a significant state change. This page describes how opt-in consent is collected, what messages are sent, and how users can opt out at any time.

How opt-in consent is collected

SMS alerts are strictly opt-in. To receive messages, a user must:
  1. Create an account and log in to MSF at msforecast.com.
  2. Navigate to their Profile page.
  3. Explicitly enable SMS alerts by entering their phone number and toggling the alert setting to on for one or more models (MP 0.6.0 and/or MK 0.6.3).

No messages are sent until the user completes all three steps. Pre-checked boxes, implied consent, and third-party opt-in are never used. Consent is recorded in our database at the time the user saves their preference.

What messages are sent

MSF sends SMS alerts only when the macroeconomic regime model detects a regime change (e.g., Deflation transitioning to Disinflation). Messages include:
  • The model name and date of the detected change
  • The previous and current top regime
  • Current probability breakdown across all four regimes
  • An opt-out instruction (reply STOP to unsubscribe)

MSF does not send marketing messages, promotional content, or messages unrelated to regime change alerts. Message frequency depends entirely on model output — typically fewer than once per week.

Example message:

MSF MP 0.6.0: Regime change detected — Deflation → Disinflation. Probabilities: Disinflation 42.3% | Reflation 28.1% | Stagflation 18.4% | Deflation 11.2%. Reply STOP to unsubscribe.

How to opt out

Users can stop receiving SMS alerts at any time by:
  • Replying STOP to any alert message.
  • Logging in to MSF and disabling SMS alerts from their Profile page.

After opting out, no further messages will be sent. To re-enable alerts, the user must return to their Profile page and opt in again.

Message and data rates

Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. MSF does not charge for SMS alerts beyond any applicable carrier fees.
